I have been with West USA Realty here in Phoenix since April of 1998 except for the time that my wife Fiona and I started our own brokerage. We started the brokerage of Hot Phoenix Real Estate in October of 2004 and wound it down in September of 2006. We wound it down due to high overhead and lack of capital due to the slowing of the real estate market here in Phoenix starting in October of 2005.

I am a Phoenix Native and have lived here the majority of my life. I was born in Phoenix while my Dad was stationed overseas in the Air Force.

Up until I was 15 my father was an active duty military man. Our family moved every 2-3 years and I was fortunate to have seen much of the country and different parts of the world. We eventually settled back in Phoenix.

After finishing school I got into the construction industry and built homes for 12 years. During that time construction became slow here in the Phoenix area in 1989. I relocated to The Bay Area in California and worked there until 1994. In 1994 I got my California real estate license and started working as a loan officer.

After initially getting started in the mortgage lending industry there was a sharp raise to interest rates. Because I didn’t have much established business and my heart was in Phoenix I moved back home to Phoenix in 1994. I got back into mortgage lending in 1995 and did that full time until 2000.

In 1999 I got my Arizona real estate license. I went to work for West USA Realty and worked both, real estate and lending for the first year or two. I eventually transitioned over to real estate full time. I worked for West USA Realty for about 6 years. During that time I was fortunate to have been in their top 1% of producers for several years.

I got my real estate brokers license towards the end of 2004 and started my own brokerage in the beginning of 2005. With the high overhead and the end of the real estate boom here in Phoenix in October of 2005 I wound down the brokerage in 2006 and went back to work with West USA Realty. I decided I’d much rather be out in the field showing homes to clients. While the brokerage was a good experience I prefer being out with clients showing homes instead of being behind a desk all day.
